Description

The University of Rwanda (UR) is a public higher learning institution established by Law No. 71/2013 on September 10, 2013. It was formed through the merger of the National University of Rwanda (NUR), founded in 1963, and six other public higher learning institutions. UR operates under the governance of a Board of Governors and an Academic Senate, which includes representation from both staff and students. The Vice-Chancellor, as the University’s Chief Executive Officer, oversees the institution's operations. UR is organized into six colleges, offering a diverse range of academic programs. Students can pursue specialized or multidisciplinary, problem-based programs, available across various campuses throughout the country and through distance learning options. As the largest public higher education institution in Rwanda, UR provides undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across multiple disciplines, including science and technology, health, agriculture, business, education, and the arts. With a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and community engagement, the University of Rwanda is a key player in advancing education, fostering development, and contributing to the socio-economic growth of Rwanda and the region.

The mission of the NGO is to empower and develop communities through ICT (Information Communication Technology), provision of advice and support, workshops and conferences, talent shows and exhibitions, exchange and learning visits and sports activities in a bid to build their economic and social resilience, enhance peaceful coexistence and promote sustainable environmental practices to mitigate climate change.
Under the SUNNY project, CTEN is set to extend its operations to Rwanda and South Sudan respectively.
