Description

Established in 1922, Makerere University provides transformative innovative teaching, learning, research and services in response to dynamic national and regional needs. Makerere University’s research agenda focuses on education for development; food, nutrition and value addition; sustainable environmental development; good governance, equity (including gender) and service delivery; health; natural resources utilization and conservation.

Role in the project

Makerere University plays a vital role in all work packages in the project by providing a supporting role in holistic assessments, regulatory frameworks and policy analysis, community mapping, user energy needs assessments, and training and capacity building related to technologies developed at specified demonstration sites. Makerere University will lead the WEF nexus and agricultural solutions tailoring.

The mission of the NGO is to empower and develop communities through ICT (Information Communication Technology), provision of advice and support, workshops and conferences, talent shows and exhibitions, exchange and learning visits and sports activities in a bid to build their economic and social resilience, enhance peaceful coexistence and promote sustainable environmental practices to mitigate climate change.
Under the SUNNY project, CTEN is set to extend its operations to Rwanda and South Sudan respectively.
